Food for My Soul

I rise, walk forward, ready to receive,
eyes locked on the crucifix above,
in my heart I believe
there is no greater love.

I bow in appreciation of Who is before me,
disguised in a piece of bread,
raised up for all to see
as “Body of Christ” is said.

I do believe, I do,
as I proclaim “Amen.”
The host is something new,
the Paschal mystery come to life again.

It’s not easy to understand
this God-given favor.
Holding Him who holds the universe, in my hand,
is something to savor.

I consume Him with the desire
that His presence will make me whole,
fill me with love, set me on fire,
because He is the food for my soul.
